An exhibition about dreaming could not have a fixed image
Curator: Sidarta Ribeiro · Visual identity co-created with Elaine Ramos, Estúdio Gráfico
Dreams: History, Science and Utopia, an exhibition curated by Sidarta Ribeiro at the Museu do Amanhã in Rio de Janeiro, open from December 2024 to May 2025. Ribeiro is a Brazilian neuroscientist whose book on dreams was published in English as The Oracle of Night. We developed the communication and the visual identity, co-created with Elaine Ramos of Estúdio Gráfico.
The curation brings together three fields that rarely occupy the same space: history, science and utopia. The job of the communication was to give that coexistence a form without putting one above the others.
The identity started from the nature of the dream itself: unstable, overlapping, recognisable only in fragments. Nothing settles. The visual language took that condition as a principle, not as an effect.
In practice, images generated with artificial intelligence, layered and animated in slow, fluid movement. Kaleidoscopic compositions in constant evolution, calibrated on the edge between recognition and abstraction. The visitor is not handed an image: they enter a state.
The exhibition offered an immersive experience where the communication and the curatorial content work as one thing. The identity does not announce the subject: it reproduces its logic.
